Exploring Personal Stories Death Grief and Loss Paper
PLEASE SEE the attachment because it’s like an example. please follow those instructions:
Overview
Throughout the semester you have gained knowledge about death, grief, and loss. The final paper gives students the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge about course topics through the process of making connections to personal stories. Students should identify at least four online compelling personal stories related to death, grief, and loss. Losses may include non-death related loss. Ideally, the personal stories you select should have helped you to understand what the person felt before, during, and following the loss. At a minimum, there needs to be information in the story that discusses experiences following the loss.
In the past, students have asked if they could include personal story information from a friend or family member. You may substitute one online personal story for an interview with a friend or family member. Do not forget to include information about their experiences following the loss.
Assignment Highlights
- Select at least four stories (related to death, non-death related losses, grief) that at a minimum explain the person’s experiences following the loss.
- Stories should be summarized.
- Incorporate specific details and connections about death, grief, and loss from course content.
- Utilizes specific names of concepts, and link this information to the stories summarized. At a minimum, three specific concepts from course content should be included in each story. Please do not repeat the same concepts for each story; use a variety to demonstrate your knowledge. Note: Writing that a person has a non-death loss is not considered a specific connection, as this is general information. Another example: Indicating the person’s partner died by suicide and the book discussed suicide, is not considered a specific connection.
- An outside reader should be able to see the connections present in the summary information.
- Include information about what you learned from reading these stories as it connects to the course content in the conclusion.
Stories should come from at least three different websites (i.e., all stories should not come from the same website). The stories should relate to different topic areas (i.e., not necessarily all about suicide). One of the personal stories may be from a video. If you choose to use a video, ensure there is enough information in the video to write about the person’s personal experiences following the loss.
Format
- Minimum word count: 1300 words (please do not inadvertently count the references page). Maximum 1800 words.
- Double-Spaced
- May Use First Person
- Use headings for each story
- APA: Cite sources (in-text citations)
- Use APA for your reference page.
Note: Please do not share stories with other students in the class to create more opportunities for unique assignment submissions. “Great minds think alike,” so I anticipate there may naturally be a few similarities in stories. Stories should be different than the ones shared in class by the Instructor.

Making Connections | 12 | Provides specific details and connections about death, grief, and loss from course content. Utilizes specific names of concepts and links this information to the stories summarized. At a minimum, each story had three specific connections. The same connections were not repeated for every story. |
