Hello All,

I have included below a suggested outline for your Unit 8 project along with some helpful hints. You must write your “script” of what you will say to your audience in the notes section of each PowerPoint slide. Also, attached are two presentations from seminar on the Unit 8 project.

Slide 1: Introduction to cancers.

Hint: Your script must include an introduction that clearly tells the audience the overall purpose of your talk (what will you be discussing) (3 pts), the definition of cancer (3 pts) and mention the specific cancer that will be the focus of your talk (2 pts).

Slide 2: Describe to the audience the characteristics of a cancer cell.

Hint: Please see page 296 of the textbook.

Slide 3: Indicate which cancer is the focus of your presentation.

Slide 4: Identify which tissues and/or organs in the human body are affected by this cancer.

Slide 5: The incidence rate of this type of cancer.

Slide 6: Typical age of onset for this type of cancer.

Slide 7: Explain the risk factors and/or causes of this cancer.

Slide 8: How this cancer is detected and diagnosed.

Slide 9: Pictures and/or illustrations of cancer cells.

Slide 10: The risk of metastasis for this cancer.

Slide 11: How this cancer is treated including the long-term prognosis. What are the survival rates?

Hint: There are two items to this slide: 1) How is the cancer treated including the long-term prognosis?; and 2)What are the survival rates?.
