Please respond with a paragraph to the following question, add citations and references:
According to the journal of American Nurse (2014), research found a 7 percent drop in the likelihood of patient death for every 10 percent increase in nurses with bachelor’s degrees. In addition, in study of Forsetlund et al. (2008), the evidences indicated continuing education can improve professional practice and health care outcomes for the patients.
Personally, I do agree with the research that the high-level education in nursing can make patients have a better prognosis and outcomes. BSN programs include the courses that are taught in associate and diploma programs as well as a more in-depth treatment of the physical and social sciences, nursing research, public and community health, nursing management, and the humanities. The BSN program can promote professional development, prepare nurses for a broader scope of practice, and provide the nurses with a better understanding of the cultural, political, economic, and social issues that affect patients and shape health care delivery. The BSN programs also aid nurses to develop the abilities of critical thinking, communication, and management, which can be used in practice to deal with emergency situations, avoid misunderstanding and manage patients’ health issues. Consequently, a BSN nurse can provide a better patient safety outcome than an AND nurse.
