detailed description of your experience of working with a nurse leader. Include the following aspects in your description.

  • Of the leadership theories discussed this week, which one did this nurse leader subscribe to? Why?
  • How has your experience been with the nurse leader? Provide a description of your interactions with him or her?

Citations should conform to APA guidelines.

The leadership theories discussed this week,

Autocratic (Authoritarian): The autocratic leader dictates to the group the task to be accomplished, and the method to be followed. This style is used when time is short and the leader is the most knowledgeable person on the team with regards to the task at hand.

  • Participative (Democratic): Participative leaders include the group in the decision−making process. This style is most appropriate when everyone in the group has knowledge about the subject, like when working with a group of experts. The leader, however, retains the ability to make the final decision.
  • Delegative (Free Reign): Also known as laissez faire, meaning—to not get involved in the affairs of others, a delegative leader allows the individuals in the group to make independent decisions, although the leader will be held responsible for the decisions made. It is best to not supervise educated people, but instead delegate their responsibilities and allow them to carry out their tasks individually.

Question description

Quantitative Annotated Bibliography

In this week’s discussion question you were asked to consider a potential problem (appropriate to your role option) that you would like to investigate through nursing research. For this assignment you will review current research from South’s Online Library and provide a critical evaluation on that research through an annotated bibliography. An annotated bibliography is a brief summary and analysis of the journal article reviewed. For more information on annotated bibliographies please visit Purdue’s OWL: Purdue Online Writing Lab

A total of two annotated bibliographies are to be submitted (not to exceed one page each). The articles must come from nursing scholarly literature and may not be older than 5 years since publication. Please note that the articles must be research based and reflect a quantitative methodology (review our reading assignments). Web pages, magazines, textbooks, and other books are not acceptable.

Each annotation must address the following critical elements:

  • Explanation of the main purpose and scope of the cited work
  • Brief description of the research conducted
  • Value and significance of the work (e.g., study’s findings, scope of the research project) as a contribution to the subject under consideration
  • Possible shortcomings or bias in the work
  • Conclusions or observations reached by the author
  • Summary as to why this research lends evidence to support the potential problem identified specific to your role option.

Role Specialization

Presently, I am working towards obtaining my master’s degree in Family Nurse Practitioner. Over the course of my twenty plus years as a nurse, I have seen how the quality of one’s life can improve outcomes and create a better lifestyle. My goal is to use my degree to help educate others on positive outcomes that a healthier lifestyle can have on one’s health. This not only includes a healthier diet and exercise plan but also an individual’s outlook on life and overview of one’s self. Health-related quality of life is of the Healthy People 2020’s objective. One of the goals of Healthy People 2020 is to bring back alive the sense of well-being or the drive to survive (Healthypeople2020.org). By creating a healthier community, the burden and cost on healthcare can be reduced. The hospitals in rural areas struggle to keep up with the demands to meet the needs of the community (Morris, M., 2018).

Research technique

South University’s online library is the main research tool that I use. I type keywords into the search engine and find articles pertinent to my topic. Here I have found several articles relating to health-related quality of life and studies regarding older adults and exercise, employment, stress, and health-related quality of life. I refer to Healthy People 2020 also for the objectives, goals and statistical resources. Other resources that I may use in my research is government links on the internet that may have statistics regarding my topic or programs available to assist with my topic such as the Good to Great program in Georgia to help motivate high school students to become more physically active, reduce the number of preventable infant deaths, and reduce the yearly numbers of patients readmitted in the hospital with diabetes related illnesses. One of the goals of Healthy People 2020 is to bring back alive the sense of well-being or the drive to survive (Healthypeople2020.org).

Potential Solution

Creating more nurse-led community-based education and coaching facilities within the community is one potential solution. These facilities have led to significant decreases in patients’ blood sugar, lipid levels, and body mass indexes (Huang, Y., 2017). Government programs to help fund education on the benefits of a healthier lifestyle so that everyone can have access needs to be created such as the Georgia program, Be Fit, Be Healthy, Be You. The nurse leaders of the communities need to take cooking classes, exercise classes, and coping with stress classes into the classrooms, churches, and employment. As more people become aware of not only the physical benefits of living well but also the psychological benefits, the easier it will be to reach everyone to strive for a health-related quality of life.

Euthanasia

What are your thoughts on euthanasia? How do you feel about forgoing life-sustaining treatment (“letting die,” “passive” euthanasia) and more “active” euthanasia like physician-assisted suicide and even lethal injections by physicians? What do you think the laws in the US should be?

You must write 250-500 words addressing this topic. Write out your answer in a Word .doc and upload it here.

Instructions:

You will be asked to respond briefly (250-500 words) to a text or philosophical issue in four “Response Papers,” each worth five percent toward your final grade. Each “Response Paper” should have the same basic form: first, track the main thrust of the assigned text. Pick out the key points, and outline what’s at stake. Then, I expect you to respond critically to the text, taking a side on the issue, making an argument, pointing out some insightful implications, and solidifying your position with good reasoning, etc. A successful “Response Paper” addresses itself to both of these components. You are expected to engage critically and thoughtfully with the text or issue, above all.

Assignment 1: Discussion—The Future of Social Security

In the last few years, the fate of the Social Security administration has come into question. The system faces various challenges like the growing number of retirees and the shrinking number of workers paying into the system. In this module, you will look at possible solutions to such problems. You will also examine the political and economic consequences of implementing changes in public policy.

Your textbook proposes several solutions for maintaining the solvency of the Social Security administration.

  • Select one solution from the textbook that you believe might be effective.
  • Using the Social Security Administration Web site (www.ssa.gov) and the Argosy University online library, research the arguments made in support of this solution.

Social Security in the United States averages to about 40 percent of the citizens’ wages. This is two-thirds of the international average, which is about 60 percent (Macionis, 2009). In addition, politicians in the United States want to cut benefits further. Keeping this in mind, respond to the following:

  • Explain reasons for the disparity in Social Security between the United States and other industrialized countries.
  • Discuss whether cutting benefits is a good policy decision for the United States.
  • Give examples and reasons in support of your response.

Provide appropriate justification for your analysis.

Write your initial response in 300–400 words. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.

General Education Capstone, assignment help

Final Draft

Throughout this course, you have been working toward your final project; this week you will be submitting your completed assignment. Make the necessary corrections to your project and submit your completed work this week. Remember to use the information and feedback you received from your instructor and peers from your rough draft submission in week five.

You had three options in how you can present your final project. Check your rough draft against the corresponding requirements:

As a Paper

Your paper should be creative and interesting, and demonstrate what you have learned. It should be a minimum of 5-7 pages in length and you will use APA style formatting with a title page and reference section. You should use Times New Roman, 12pt. font, double-space your lines, and set your page up with one inch margins (See the APA Template included in the Course Resources folder)

As a Presentation

Like the paper option, your presentation should be creative, interesting, and demonstrate what you have learned throughout the project. Your presentation should be 8 to 10 minutes in length, include visual elements (graphics, pictures, etc.), be presented using a program such as PowerPoint or Prezi, and you should record yourself giving the presentation (consider using screen capture programs such as JING or Eyejot to record your voice—be aware, you may need to create more than one file).

As a Speech

As it is in the other two options, your speech should be creative, interesting, and demonstrate what you have learned throughout the project. Your speech should be 8 to 10 minutes in length and include a typed handout.

For All Assignment Types

Your assignment should be well-organized and demonstrate an orderly flow of information that clearly addresses the subject chosen. In addition to the above criteria, your final project should include the following elements:

  • The Community Organization: Clearly indicate the focus of the organization and the community needs that the organization. A brief historical background of the organization should also be included.
  • Discuss any community partnerships that they have. Suggest additional partnerships that you feel they should have.
  • Explore how the cross-cultural challenges and humanitarian considerations are involved.
  • Demonstrate how the organization uses volunteers and the economic benefits associated with this (not just “free labor”).
  • Illustrate any roadblocks that the organization has faced or potential could face and how they did or might find solutions.
  • Describe the organization’s vision for the future.
  • Indicate what areas in which you feel the organization could improve. What challenges (technological, political, economic, laws and regulations, community-based initiatives, educational, etc.) will they need to overcome?
  • Discuss potential ways you might be able to contribute to the organization. How could your own interests, talents, and skills benefit this organization?

Note: You will need to include a minimum of ten (10) sources to support your project claims. Additionally, make sure the sources you choose are no more than five (5) years old.

Other Criteria:

Title your Project

Introduction: Begin with the attention-getter, tie in the background information, and end the introduction with your thesis.

Body:

  • Clearly identify the topic of each section. The topic must be a statement, not a question, and should begin with your own ideas and your own words.
  • After identifying your topic, use quotations or paraphrase from your sources to help illustrate the point you are making (be sure to identify the author(s) and source(s)).
  • After you have given support, spend a sentence or two explaining how the example(s) support the section topic.
  • A compilation of your research, your literature review, your methods, (how the data was collected or generated and analyzed), and your results should be included in the body of your project.

Conclusion:

  • Restate your thesis. This means that you say about the same thing as you did in your thesis, but you say it differently.
  • After stating your thesis, restate the topics from each of your body sections and emphasize what is important for your audience/readers to remember.
  • End your conclusion with a call to action that illustrates what your audience/readers should do with the information you presented.

Please note: You will have the opportunity to revise and perfect this project, but you should do your best to make each step as complete as possible so you can receive more relevant and constructive feedback from your instructor and your peers.

A labour study related essay

Question description

The purpose of the term paper has been defined by Rivlin (1942) as:

“…to give able students an opportunity to do systematic, critical, or constructive work independently under the guidance of the instructor; to supplement the student’s knowledge of the field by wider reading and thinking, and by greater practical handling of the material than is possible through daily assignments; and to enable the student to explore more fully some phase of the course in which he has a special interest or for which he is particularly well qualified to investigate because of previous courses, yet which should not take up too much of the time of the class.”

The term paper / annotated bibliography assignment for this class is to be completed in three stages, with due dates as specified on the course syllabus.

First Stage

The first stage assignment is a topic proposal that states your topic in an introductory paragraph or two (250-400 words)and briefly (125-150 words each) summarizes in your own words a minimum of four (4) relevant scholarly sources (journal articles, book chapters or similar resources).

Required weekly readings from the syllabus will not be counted in the minimum number of sources for this and subsequent assignments but these may be included as supplementary references above the minimum counts. The purpose of the writing assignment is to provide an opportunity to conduct “wider reading and thinking” beyond what has been assigned by the instructor (see quote from Rivlin, below).

Second Stage

The second assignment will increase the number of sourcesreviewed to a minimum of eight and expand the length of the summaries for each entry, including the original four, to 200-250words. Your introduction for this stage should be about one-page (approx. 350-400 words). When I mark your first two assignments, I will offer suggestions for further readings and revisions and it will be prudent to take these suggestions into account in your final paper.

Third Stage

The final assignment may be either a standard term paper or an annotated bibliography. It should be based on your analysis of no fewer than eight sources. If your final paper is an annotated bibliography, you will also be required to include a three to three and half page introductory discussion that synthesizes and evaluates the persuasiveness of the various analyses and evidence surveyed a brief conclusion in addition to the article summaries. If you choose to do a standard term paper, you may integrate the synthesis and overview discussion with the analysis from the source materials.

CASE STUDY ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Assignment due: 12/10/2018

Use attached document (template) to complete the assignment

CASE STUDY ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Gloria has recently graduated college and started a new job. Her coworkers seem very nice, and Gloria has gotten to know Lakeisha and Reggie the best.

Reggie is a friendly older man who often talks about his plans for retirement in five years. He likes to make people laugh but often jokes about his struggles to learn new programs and technology.

Gloria and Lakeisha have been assigned to work on a project together. Lakeisha is very organized and has prepared a list of to-do items along with due dates. She even color-coded the list to indicate which partner will do each item. Gloria, who is more laid-back, feels a bit uncomfortable with this micromanaging from Lakeisha, who has only been at the job a few months longer than she has. Gloria wonders if Lakeisha thinks she is either lazy or stupid, and she does not look forward to working on this project. In the past, Gloria attempted to communicate her feelings with a co-worker; however, her coworker told Gloria that she needed to put her feelings aside and just do the work assigned to her.  As Gloria ponders having a conversation with Lakeisha, she starts to feel overwhelmed and thinks she might have to ask to be removed from this project.

Still, she and Lakeisha have connected because they are both single mothers of teenagers. Gloria confides in Lakeisha about her 16-year-old son who has started making poor choices and is currently grounded for sneaking out of the house and getting drunk at a party the night before a big exam.

The company recently informed the team that there will be a compliance test on new safety policies, which employees will need to pass in order to keep their jobs. The company has provided materials to study as well as optional practice exams. Gloria and Lakeisha have signed up to take the first practice test. Reggie, however, jokes that he will probably wait until the night before the test to read the material. As the date of the test approaches, Reggie becomes increasingly nervous. He makes frequent comments about how hard it is for him to learn a different way of doing the jobs that he has been doing for years, joking that “you can’t teach an old man new tricks.”

1. Gloria’s son is making poor decisions. Given what you have learned about a) brain development and b) social development in Chapter 3:
Explain why Gloria’s son is making those poor decisions.
Discuss specific strategies Gloria can implement to help her son make better choices.
Use specific concepts related to development and self-regulation to explain why these strategies would be effective.
2. Reggie is demonstrating a fixed mindset. How is Reggie’s mindset affecting the way he prepares for the new compliance test?
Use brain plasticity (neuroplasticity) to explain how Reggie can start to develop a growth mindset.
Suggest study strategies for Reggie so that he will be prepared for the compliance test. Use specific concepts from Chapter 4 to explain why these strategies will be effective.
3. Consider Gloria and Lakeisha’s different approaches to the project. On which of the Big 5 personality traits do they most differ?
Give advice to Gloria on how she can use emotional regulation and cognitive reappraisal to work with Lakeisha.

respond to a post

Question description

add or comment to the following post with reference.

1) Continue week’s 2 theme, by comparing and contrasting management theories to leadership theories in order to develop or refresh a working knowledge of application of these principles in practice. Find two alternate academic sources to support your analysis.

One concept if implemented well, it will create the most effective team dynamics and the true environment of success. A team leader often gets fooled by the name and thinks that by calling them a leader, it makes them automatically a good leader, where in fact it needs effort, commitment and time to deserve being called a leader. Being a leader means to get the best out of your team members and adding to what they can produce, many so-called leaders never attempt to add something to the team value and even worse when they stop others from adding!

Leaders don’t mind being powerless, what they care about is being influential. Using power doesn’t encourage people to be creative, it might control what they do but it can’t control what they think and want. Also, successfully juggling between the two important objectives of leading the people in the team and managing the work progress will create a more efficient and powerful team force.

2) Describe in detail how you can apply project management techniques to the risk communication project. See the project description to understand what the requirements are for the assignment and then create your project management plan.

The initial stage of establishing a risk communication project is the identification of the project goals and the target audience. The plan should solely focus on one goal for easier managing purposes. The next stage is to identify the type of information that should be given to the target audience. The project’s scope and communication objectives are stated in the next step of the project (Burke, 2013). The management should research on past literature since it is beneficial to the project at large. The reasons for selection of target audience and topic should be considered during the process. Creating a baseline plan for the project is sufficient for the successful completion of the project. My project management plan is about building the resilience of health systems by WHO in the Pacific island. The first stage involved identifying the target audience which countries that is vulnerable to climate change. I recognized the information that the audience needed then researched in the previous literature on the topic. Reasons for the selection of the target audience were considered, and then I created a baseline plan. The information that I collected will be applied to the principles of risk communication programs then build my case study.
